Fee dispute at Kochi port resolved

The dispute over parking fees at the newly set up container parking yard at Kochi port has been finally resolved following an agreement reached between the promoters of the parking yard and trailer owners, the Hindu Business Line reported.
The trailer owners were on a warpath as they alleged that the fares were exorbitant and there were several strikes in the port area last month over parking of trailers.
Officials of the company that set up the container parking yard said that the rates were reduced in the best interests of trade through Kochi. A parking facility for trailers in the port area was long needed, considering the increase in number of trailers to over 1,000 vehicles in 2008.
