Hanjin raises rates from April

SOUTH KOREA''s Hanjin Shipping is raising freight rates on the Asia-Europe and Transatlantic trades with effect from April 1, 2009.
The carrier said in a statement that this decision was made and announced to its regional offices and customers last month.
Regarding the rate increase, Hanjin Shipping said that such a decision is "necessary in order to continue providing top quality service to its customers."
The details are as follows: The trade from the Far East/South East Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean Westbound will be increased to US$300 per TEU and $600/FEU as of April 1.
As for the trades from Australia to North Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as the trade from the Indian Sub-Continent and the Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean, the rates will be raised to $200 per TEU and $400/FEU.
For the Eastbound trades from North Europe and the Mediterranean to the Far East, South East Asia and the Indian Sub-Continent rates will be increased to $200 per TEU and $400/FEU.
For other cargoes the F.A.K will be raised to $200 per TEU and $400/FEU; refrigerated cargo will be $200/TEU and $400/FEU; waste product will be $150/TEU and/or FEU; ''special'' $100/TEU and/or FEU; Trans Atlantic Service West Bound will be $150 per TEU and $225/FEU.
For the dry and refrigerated cargo transported on the Trans Atlantic Service Eastbound the rates will be raised to $100 per TEU and $150 per FEU, the carrier added.
