Sweden''s AGA Gas AB, part of German industrial gases supplier Linde , has picked NCC (NCCb.ST) to construct Sweden''s first terminal for liquefied natural gas near Stockholm, NCC said on Monday.
The terminal in Nynashamn is due on line around mid 2011 and will import 250,000 tonnes of LNG per year, AGA Gas said.
"The terminal to be erected will be the first of its type in Sweden and will facilitate the utilization of natural gas in central Sweden," NCC said in a statement.
NCC said Finnish utility Fortum , among others, will "use the natural gas to replace petroleum for city-gas production in Stockholm." Sweden''s Nynas refinery will also use the gas in its production of hydrogen gas.
NCC said the 275 million Swedish crown ($32.23 million) AGA Gas deal also envisaged the construction of a harbour capable of receiving tankers up to 160 metres in length and a 100-metre bridge to connect the site with the mainland.
