Greek shipping raked in EUR 19.2 billion in 2008, according to Bank of Greece. The state of the world economy started to have effect in the two last months, with EUR 1.4 billion in revenues in December, down by some EUR 200 million compared with the same month in 2007. Greek owners have 1,087 newbuildings of more than 94 million DWT in order, according to Union of Greek Shipowners and Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee.
