Ship diversions cause further problems

As a result of recent Lagos ports congestion, the Nigerian Ports Authority decided to divert some ships to the eastern ports but manufacturers said many of their members may not be able to access their raw materials for reasons of logistics, All Africa reported.
In order to clear the Lagos ports of congestion that has become common sight lately, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) recently ordered diversion of ships to Eastern ports in Warri, Onne, and Calabar.
But the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has faulted the directive saying the ship diversion will grind the economy to a halt, as "most manufacturers will not be able to access their raw materials for reasons of logistics especially as other terminals do not have the experienced personnel, and the appropriate cargo equipment."
