Guangdong cargo throughput fell into negative in 2008

Guangdong''s key ports realized cargo throughput of 886 million tonnes in 2008, up 6.19 percent on year, NewsTrak Daily reported.
Guangdong''s cargo throughput growth stood at 13.8 percent for the first half of 2008 but dropped sharply in the second half with cargo throughput falling into a negative reign in August, September, November and December.
In 2008, Guangdong key ports recorded foreign trade cargo throughput of 331 million tons, rose 4.08 percent on year. The growth rate stood at 22.44 percent for the first quarter and dropped to -15.48 percent for the fourth quarter 2008.
Guangdong ports container throughput totalled 40.39 million TEUs in 2008, up 6.33 percent on year. The foreign trade container throughput totalled 30.12 million TEUs, up 2.83 percent compare to 29.29 million TEUs in 2007.
