Bidders vie for Sri Lankan port tender

Fourteen potential investors have collected bid documents to build and operate a container terminal in a new port coming up next to Colombo harbour in Sir Lanka, Asia Pulse reported.
The parties include Maersk, APL and Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH).
Others were Gulftainer, a port operator based in Sharjah in the UAE, South Asia Gateway Terminals, which operates Colombo''s private container terminal, and China Harbour Engineering Company, which is building a port in the island''s south.
Sri Lankan conglomerates in the fray are John Keells Holdings, Hayleys, Aitken Spence and Hemas
