China''s Jan-Feb cumulative container volume down 14.8pc

CHINESE ports'' container throughput during the first two months cumulated to 16 million TEU, sliding 14.8 per cent year on year, Xinhua reported.
Seaports lifted 14.9 million TEU, down 14.9 per cent. River ports handled 1.1 million TEU, down 13.9 per cent.
Overall tonnage handled by the Chinese ports during this period fell five per cent to 861.1 million tonnes. Seaports accounted for 631.8 million tonnes, down 7.2 per cent. River port throughput dropped 1.5 per cent to 229.3 million tonnes.
Foreign trade cargo handled by the ports in China came to 274.3 million tonnes, down 11.7 per cent. Some 254 million tonnes were handled by seaports, down 11.8 per cent while 20.3 million tonnes were handled by river ports, down 11.2 per cent.
