Zoom bid for deep water port reconsidered
2009/2/13
The Kerala Government has said it would go by the Supreme Court verdict and reconsider the rejected bid of Mumbai-based Zoom Developers for executing the US$1.6 billion Vizhinjam deep water port project in South Kerala, the Press Trust of India reported.
"We honour the Supreme Court verdict in the case without any prejudice. Based on that order, we will be taking further steps", Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The apex court had yesterday upheld the Kerala High Court order asking the state government to consider the bid of Zoom Developers for execution of the project that was rejected for awarding the construction of the mega project to a consortium led by Hyderabad-based Lanco Kondapaly Power last year.
Zoom Developers had alleged the evaluation of bids for the work involved irregularities.
